Shop Fabrication

With more than 170,000 square feet of manufacturing space, modern equipment, and an experienced team of steel fabricators, the craftsmen of Goodhart Sons, Inc. were able to begin the manufacturing of components for the new baghouse at their fabrication shops in Lancaster, PA.

Once the project was given the green light the wheels of the Engineering Department went into motion. Utililizing the latest in CAD technology, the detailers at Goodhart Sons, Inc. took to the task of preparing the drawings and bills of materials to get the project rolling forward. The purchasing department used this inofrmation to procurr the required material from our well-stocked warehouse and suppliers.

With material on hand, the Pre-fabrication department was able to swing into action. Here the plates were sheared, sawed, bent and punched.

Our process involves the use of state of the art cutting, burning, rolling, forming and welding equipment.

Steel plates were moved to our oxy-fuel and plasma steel burn tables with full CNC equipment.  These machines are computerized and networked to permit maximum steel plate usage and burning efficiency. With minimal effort a broad inventory of prime, mill certified steel plate was turned into components to construct the baghouse and components.

Next to take over were the fitters and welders, who are AWS and ASME certified. These operations occurred under the watchful eye of the Quality Control Department. All parts were reviewed for size and weight as well as dimensional accuracy.

At the same time, the Traffic Department began making arrangements for shipping the pieces to the job site.
